Weekly lunch menu?

What does everyone bring for lunch? I am sick and tired of DH eating out every single day... It makes me sick to see how much he spends on food (and it's junk food too) and we really need to be saving every penny...

So ladies, what do you/your hubbies like to eat for lunch?

Pretty much the same thing, or one of those Amy's organic Mac and Cheese's or Burrito's

Re: Weekly lunch menu?

My hubby likes sandwiches or some type of cold salad-I make a big batch at the beginning of the week (orzo salad, pasta salad, quinoa, etc.) and send him with a container every day. He also weirdly likes convenience packaged foods (like a kid, lol) so I get him the Sabra hummus to-go cups or the carrots with the ranch. Its pretty cute actually.

ugh i totally get where you are coming from. i hate when dh spends money on take out food. i understand its hard for him when breakfast and lunch orders are taken at his job everyday, and if he brings his lunch he seems like the odd man out. but usually he will bring leftovers from dinner or a cold cut sandwich. try making a lil extra food at dinner so he can bring it for lunch the next day.

On Sunday's I will make a hearty soup and take it to work for two or three days. I also like chopped salads.

Re: Weekly lunch menu?

I have started trying to bring lunch this week each day. I have taken inspiration from the kids' bento boxes. I made a big pasta salad this week and have had that separate or on top of a spinach salad a few days. I brought turkey roll ups with muenster cheese one day. I bring raisins and apples as snacks.

Next week I'll try a different deli meat and continue to throw salads into the mix. I also have leftover london broil to bring one day.

Leftovers usually.

Sometimes a PBJ and sometimes a cheese stick, grapes and some dry roasted almonds. Once in a while I'll do salad or hummus with pita chips and an apple. Yogurt and cottage cheese is a favorite too.

Weekly lunch menu?

I usually bring leftovers or a sandwich or salad to save $$. Then it kills me because on days when DH isn't working and is home, he goes out and buys lunch.

Re: Weekly lunch menu?

I try to give him leftovers as much as possible.

this week though we had coldcuts so I've been trying to make him a different kind of sandwich every day to keep it interesting lol.

it's basic turkey and ham, so for two days he had it with cheddar, one day with chips, the other with a pickle. yesterday I swapped out the cheese for avocado, and today I got my arse up out of bed and made him a panini and a small tossed salad.

If I don't make him/prepare his lunch he spends about 10 bucks on average which is way too much. I make his coffee and his breakfast as well.

I am so happy winter is coming in a way b/c we will have a lot more soups/stews and braised things which reheat really well.

we save so much though so it's worth it to me to do.

for myself, I have been trying to eat fruit or a cliff bar or a yogurt and granola. I do buy my lunch more but that is mostly b/c I can get it for about half of what DH can.

Weekly lunch menu?

I've cut out most sugars and unrefined carbs, so I've been making bigg chopped salads. We also order a lot at my job, so I try to keep it simple with soup or a salad. DH brings cold cut sandwiches or PBJ with chips, fruit and granola bars.
