Day Trip to Dutch Wonderland or Great Adventure?

DS is 2 1/2. We had booked a trip for DW and Hershey that was supposed to be two weeks ago but we had to cancel because DH is out of workChat Icon

We would like to do a day trip on 4th of July. I was thinking of Great Adventure but had a thought that maybe we could do DW. GA is 2 1/2 hours whereas DW is 4 hours.

Do you think DW as a day trip is doable or should I stick with the plan and just do GA?

I have never been to Dutch Wonderland but I would imagine Great Adventure would be a mad house on the 4th of July. Even though it is further away, I would do Dutch.

Dutch wonderland is a far day trip. Sesame place would be closer as a day trip!

DW is way too far for a day trip. Lake Compounce is in CT and seems fun

I wouldn't consider a 4-hr ride a day trip - ESPECIALLY on a major holiday - so definitely not DW! Even GA seems too far - plus, is there a lot to do there for a 2 1/2 year old?

What about Adventureland? Or Rye Playland? Somewhere more geared towards younger kids, and also a lot closer ..

DW at 4 hours each way..dont think so. Yes, you probably only need a day at the park for a 2 1/2 year old, but thats 8hrs of driving in one day.

we live an hour and half and did it in one day. we got there when they opened, stayed until about 1, made a quick stop at the outlets for something on the way home and was home by 3ish.

DS didnt give a crap to go on any ride by himself so thats why we werent there longer. if your DS Loves rides then there is a lot of stuff for him to do.

Too far for a trip there and back in one day. I second Rye Playland if it's just for the day.

I would do either Sesame Place or Lake Compounce. I wouldn't driven 8 hours in one day.

I just looked up Lake Compounce and it looks great! (had never heard of it before) Sounds like the perfect day trip and lots of fun for a 2 1/2 year old!

DW is too far for a day trip. It's supposed to be a 4 hour drive, but we just came back and the drive was really long.

We left on Monday, and it took us 5 1/2 hours to get there. We came home on Thursday, and it took us 6 hours to get home. All of the traffic was in NY. It was rough, and that was on a non-holiday.
