How do you stimulate your newborn's mind?
I feel like I'm not doing enough. So far I use a rattle, a bouncy (with little plush animals he can hit) and an activity mat with music and stuff animals. Is this fine for a newborn? Should I be doing more or buying other toys to stimulate him? TIA

My DD loves her mobile, activity mat, bouncy seat with toys. She absolutely loves going outside I walk her at least once a day. She loves dancing to music with me and of course bath time :)

It sounds like what you are doing is fine!!!!!
I remember when the twins were 2-3mo I walked around BRU and picked out a bunch of toys. 1 thing they loved, and DS#3 does too is this: LINK. It's such a silly little toy but all 3 boys love kicking it.
I also got this and the kids all loved it: LINK.
I also put DS#3 on the floor mat and just put a bunch of toys/ rattles around him and he just kicks around and looks at everything.
I think this age is hard----there's only so much of this stuff you can do! I always like going for walks, to the stores and playing in the kiddie pool bc I feel like it gives him different things to look at and feel.

Re: How do you stimulate your newborn's mind?
My DD use to love the mobile, anything with lights and music, Baby Einstein videos, and I read to her constantly.........every day, all the time. I know she didn't have a clue as a NB and infant but regardless, I feel like reading to your kids is soooooo important from a very young age. Reading helps to develop verbal skills, understanding of expression and emotion, attention, concentration, and so much more. I also talked to her constantly. I would literally converse with her all day long, ask her questions, tell her jokes, point things out to her. It sounds silly but I think it really helped her in talking early, building conversational skills, developing a strong vocabulary, etc.
You're doing great!!! The best thing you can do is to just engage them, talk to them, read to them, and give them lots of love!!!!! Can't go wrong!!!
