Bath/Care Products

What care products are necessary and which are unnecessary?

For instance, I know I will need shampoo/body wash.

But...

Will I use baby lotion?

Re: Bath/Care Products

It depends on your baby. Mine has ridiculously sensitive skin so the only bath soap we can use for her is cetaphil. We can use cetaphil lotion or cerave but usually have to use much thicker specialty creams or even prescription lotions to help her. But we do use Aveeno baby shampoo. I love that stuff. Chat Icon

I have a lot of baby lotion just sitting around because I could never use it. Sometimes I give a bottle to my MIL because she'll use any lotion.

thank you. that is what I am afraid of. Babies have such sensitive skin. I'm just torn on whether or not I should keep a bottle of baby lotion on hand, or return/exchange it for something else...

Re: Bath/Care Products

Do you have sensitive skin at all? I do, so I should've realized she might. It's good to have A&D lotion at home -- it's pure vitamin a and vitamin d. Great for using after every diaper change the first few weeks. It can double as lotion too. But the baby will come out dry and flaking and shedding, and you're actually NOT supposed to use lotion on that at the very beginning. As my ped said, "if you were floating around for 9 months, you'd peel a bit too" -- and that after her skin would be great. Once the peeling stopped, it never happened again, but her skin wasn't great under lol. But A&D is definitely great to have! Aquafor too -- it can be used in the neck folds if they get milk trapped there and start to get a rash to prevent fungus from growing.
