BTDT Help Please- Question about after birth

I was doing some research on what to expect after the hospital, recovery wise and the changes to your body, etc.

Are heavy overnight pads with wings enough or do I actually need those diaper type things? I was always planning on getting the thickest always with wings but from what I was reading, they keep mentioning or showing pictures of what i think is full adult diapers. I am kind of scared now and have no idea what I will actually need.

thoughts?

I bought thick maxi pads with wings. Plus I made sure to take home a ton of pads from the hospital.
I dont think its necessary for the diaper that you mention, ut everyone is different. I would hold off on them till after you give birth and you can always ask someone to run to the store and get you

Re: BTDT Help Please- Question about after birth

The two days I was in the hospital, I actually wore the hospital disposable underwear with the hospital giant maxipads with a baby diaper with ice inside them, all held in with a giant blue "chuck" pad. (I'm really glad we only had 2 visitors at the hospital lol.)

When I got home, I used the always overnight extra long with wings (I think it's the orange package) -- they are GIANT. I think I had to change them every hour or so for the first few days.

I never used any depends or adult diapers.

After another week or so, I could go down to less giant pads -- like the regular always overnights with wings or the always long with wings, and then another week after that I could start using the always infinity ones which are WAY thinner. I bled for almost 6 weeks but by the last two weeks or so it was much, much lighter.

You can always order on amazon or diapers.com after the baby is born and you see what you need. That's what I did. I still have a whole package leftover from DD so I'm planning to start with that. (it helps that I only had my period ONCE after she was born before I got pregnant again, a year later)

Phew. Thank you.

I think I will start with having a package of the heavy overnights on hand and then use whatever the hospital gives me if necessary or have DH run out to the store. Hopefully those will be fine and then I could gradually decrease to the thinner ones.

Someone on here had recommedned Always Infinity.
The overnight with wings.

They were AMAZING.
They were like 1/8 the thickness of those hospital pads and they absorbed SO much.
The first few days- in the hospital- I used the heavy ones though...you bleed the most then.
By the time I got home I switched to the Infinity- sometimes I'd wear 2- but they were still super thin compared to those diaper like things.

They worked Awesome!

I used the hospital pads until I got home. After that I tried the Always Infinity Overnights that a lot of people recommended on here. They were nice and thin but were longer than the hospital pads which was a bit overkill for me. I switched to the Always Infinity regular right away and they were plenty for me. I definitely wouldn't stock up on any one thing until you know what you need and prefer.

I used the hospital pads with no issues. (c section). I had my baby at 8 am and until 8 am the next day the nurses take care of you because you will not be able to if you have a section.

from what I kinda remember...

Winthrop had these bulky basic pads.... I think day 1 they had the disposable underwear and they could fit like 4 pads stacked around....some of them have icepacks in them....

Day 2 (or later day 1) bring your own overnight with wings- always, and you should be fine and feel more normal like.
