blood in poop - transition to whole milk
Hi - I have a one year old boy. he was on Similac Advance since he was born, the regular kind - with no issues. We just started transitioning to milk. We started it on Saturday (with one ounce milk to 4 formula and moved up a very little bit because he didnt like it when it was too much milk yet...)
OK, yesterday I noticed blood in his poop and his poops have been much looser and different (I was assuming it was bc the milk being added in). I went to Dr. and it was positive and they want us to go back to formula for 10 days and bring samples to them from a few of the poops so they can test.
The Dr. said not to panic (yet). That freaked me out even though he said it to calm me.
The baby hasn't really been complaining about anything so I am not too upset about it.
Has this happened with anyone? I"m hoping its just a fluke thing with the blood, maybe he had a cut in his butt or something.
Any experiences to share would be great.

Re: blood in poop - transition to whole milk
DD was fine with milk, however, sometimes blood in the stool can be an indication of a milk allergy. It's good that your doctor is on top of it so I'm sure they'll be able to tell you definitively soon.
Milk allergies are quite common though when they switch over. My friend's son went through the same thing and once it was identified, it wasn't a big deal and the allergy didn't last too long and he was eventually transitioned over to lactose products.
