I felt a little weird about it even when DD was newborn!!  Stupid, I know......absolutely no reason to feel weird. 
But we moved DD into her own room at 12 weeks though so it wasn't an issue for long. But realistically, if they are asleep, then for the first few months it really isn't a big deal to get busy with them in the room. Even if they happened to wake up while you were DTD they wouldn't have a clue what's going on anyway.

DS # 1 was out of our bedroom at 5 months. Ds #2 is 4 months old and we're going to start transitioning him into the crib in the other room. So i guess by 5 months. I wouldn't want them in longer than that.

personally i dont think any age we would do it, i think DH would be more wierded out then i would be but DD never sleep in our room anyway.
While i know someone who does it and thier kid is much older and the kid sleeps in thier bed she tells me he doesnt even wake up to it.

We never did either... we went in another room or in the basement. Do you have someplace else in the house you can go? I'd probably feel awkward at 6mos too.

DD did not sleep in our room but she could see into it from her room.
I always closed the door  I felt really weird about it even at a young age.

We never did. Feel weird. Sadly, we only have a one bedroom, so it has caused a big decline. :(
We have to use the living room or have her nap in the living room. Annoying.
Dont know what to do about! :(
I never liked doing it with my dog in the room either! LOL
