Spent the morning at L&D - with a little PSA
I had some painful cramping this morning on and off. By the time I got to work, I still had them and was also feeling some tightening in my belly. I figured maybe braxton hicks, or heck maybe gas? Maybe even a UTI?
My co-worker said if it feels like period like cramping down low, that it could be contractions or pre-term labor. Since I was also having pressure, I called my OB to let her know.
She had me go right over to L&D for monitoring for contractions. They put me on a monitor, checked my urine, did a transvaginal sono, and a regular sono. Everything was ok with baby and cervix (thankfully!).
So what caused it, you ask? Dehydration!
Yep, dehydration. I hadn't drank anything at all since the night before and my urine was VERY dark. They knew it right from when they saw my sample, but obviously checked everything else (especially since my first was born pre-term).
Anywho, moral of the story is DRINK DRINK DRINK your fluids!!! Dehydration can cause cramping and/or contractions!
Drink up ladies!
On a side note - during the sono they got a potty shot and still no penis  So after 3 sonos I'm pretty sure this baby really is a girl

I always start to cramp and have stomach pains if I don't drink at least 4-6 glasses of water by noon. Its a must! So glad you're ok!

Thanks everyone. I'm ok - I actually felt silly going in until I got off the elevator and realized that L&D is on the same floor as the NICU where my son spent his frist month of life and that brought be back to the fact that the last time I went to L&D for monitoring, I never left! I had my baby 8+ weeks early! So that made me nervous, but thankfully it wasn't anything too serious.
