Re: I know it's probably not something to be so upset about...
LOL. If the head is big, the measurement can be WAY off! The night before my daughter was born, they told me she was "definitely at least 8lbs." Little baby was born at 5lbs 14oz. The measurement was super skewed because her head was a higher percentile.
Try not to worry about it so much. I promise you that even if the measurements are spot on, the second you hold that baby is your arms, you won't care!

Re: I know it's probably not something to be so upset about...
They told me SO many times how big my baby was gonna be, etc. DH is 6'5 and that combined with the growth sono results, I was freaking out!!
Turns out my baby was perfect, 7'11. I think those sonos can be off by a lot. Please don't worry because no matter how big or small your baby is that is the last thing you will be thinking of when they are born. Your baby will be perfect.

Re: I know it's probably not something to be so upset about...
Don't beat yourself up. I had moments where I felt that way too after my growth sonos. My baby was measuring bigger than that! Over 9lbs at 37 weeks. She ended up being over 9 pounds at 38 weeks when she was born - so they were def. wrong, she was less than they measured a week and a half earlier. I think we all want that tiny little baby, but I can promise you, you are not going to care about your baby being too big when he/she arrives. All you will care about is that you have a healthy baby. You will love that little thing and think it's perfect no matter what - and so will all your friends and family.
I won't lie, I went out the day of that growth soon and returned everything newborn sized, I was so upset I wasn't going to have a tiny little one, but I got over it. At 4 months she's happy and healthy and has a beautiful neck :)
It's ok to feel that way, but I assure you it won't matter on the day :) Good luck to you.

Re: I know it's probably not something to be so upset about...
I can understand not wanting to birth a big baby for pain reasons. Personally I love chubby babies vs skinny babies but that imo. I think the word porker makes me sad bc its not like the baby was eating doritos and layting on the couch kwim? Lol. What size baby do u want?

Re: I know it's probably not something to be so upset about...
thanks for hearing me out girls...this just isnt really something i can express to DH but i needed to hear some responses to my thoughts...
and prunepie...I totally get what you mean and that's why I feel horrible even thinking to be upset about the reading...if anything, I'm hardly eating as much, I"M losing weight/holding even at my appts every week...I guess LO is taking all of my calories. so yes it makes me sad too, and it's my own thoughts!!
I dunno, I just really needed to express everything before going to bed tonight, I've been in a funk since the appt...
and to answer your ??, I just really prefer baby to be under 9lbs, SIL had a vag birth with a almost 10lb baby, and hes 8 and her insides are still messed up from birthing him...
and DH is no help, he's been joking all night "oh well i guess i need to convert the crib into the toddler bed now!" and I was looking at the sono pic and he says "mommys little kindergartner!" b/c he knows I was upset and now he's busting my chops!!! he totally wants a bigger baby, so he thinks its funny (it kinda is but i wanna smack him lol)

Re: I know it's probably not something to be so upset about...
My little boy was born 9lbs and my doctor loving said to me when he came out "He's a moose" which made me really sad. However he does not look like a porker.... he has a neck and is soooo cute. Plus he lost almost a pound by the time we took him home from the hospital.
As for the birth... I had the best labor- he came out easily and it wasn't so bad. Granted I had an epi but still... for a 9 lb baby it was not bad at all. All the nurses were super impressed with me and that I carried such a big baby.
Like someone else said... the day of you won't care. Your baby will still seem so tiny to you.

I hope I didn't sound mean. I totallllly get not wanting a too large baby for medical and or birthing issues for sure. But when I read it, to me it seemed more about babys looks kwim? Then again I freaked when I hjad a sono and the baby looked like homer simpson lol. Everyone has some sort of comment. Either the baby is chubby or omg there's a peanut.. Did u feed the baby cause its so small. I realllllllly think unless the baby is 15 pounds that it will look abbormally big. Vent away I hear u. Oxoxox
