Best way to deas with a nursing strike?? Please help....
Liam has been a great breastfeeder since 3 weeks PP. All of a sudden Saturday he started refusing to feed, like bloody murder screams and scratching me and pulling away arching his back real hard. He wants nothing to do with BFing. He will take a breastflow bottle, tried a paci too just to see and he will take that too but as soon as he gets near me or gets into the crdale hold he freaks. I got him to nurse a tad walking around the christmas tree nursing him and once while he was laying down and my just brought my boob over his mouth but nothing since, my poor milk supply is having a hard time and my Freestyle is only getting like half an ounce out, i know nothing will get milk out like he does but how can i get him to nurse. I gave him tylenol for teething pain, going to ped (who is also a lactation consultant) tomorrow because he has only peed twice today and hasn't pooped since Saturday. I love BFing him and the way he eats, we could never afford that much formula. What do i do? It's just so upsetting, i love BFing him and it's just an amazing time for the 2 of us, im not ready to stop and i know he can because he has a couple time but nothing nowhere consistent. He refuses 90% of the time....

If you're only getting 1/2 an ouce using the pump maybe your supply has taken a dip and it just frustrates him to nurse?
Maybe it's an ear infection and it hurts him to be in the cradle position? Does he cry when you lay him down other times?
Just some ideas. I loved nursing DD and I cannot wait to nurse this new baby so I know how you feel.

I started pumping Sunday night when he was still refusing to nurse. I pump for 15-20 minutes andgradually increse the speed and still have milk coming out after, i know only he can get the milk out...there is more than half an ounce in my boobs. He does cry laying him down too, he will cry and refuse to nurse and is fine when he gets a bottle which i don't want to give him but i don't want to starve him....what do i do?

Have you gotten AF? I know when I nursed that my DC had a nursing strike when my AF came because the milk apparently tasted different to them.

Maybe your DC can taste the difference and that is causing the nursing strike?

How old is DC?
Could it be that he doesn't like the way that you are holding him? Have you tried laying down next to him to nurse? Or maybe sitting more upright?
