how are the schools? how is the town? is there one part that is better over the other?

There is a very small area in the NE section of Mineola--north of Jericho Tpke and east of the LIRR tracks that attends East Williston SD. The rest of Mineola is Mineola SD. You'll know these houses as they're probably about $200K more expensive.
IMO, the more desirable areas are North of Jericho Tpke, the area around the Middle School/Public Library (south of Jericho Tpke), and the streets right off of Old Country Road (East of Roslyn Road). FM me if you'd like to know the areas so stay away from, as I don't want to offend anyone.
The schools are decent; the area is very convenient to LIRR, Winthrop hospital, parkways, shopping malls. It is pretty much surrounded on all sides by very safe towns as well. Taxes are also pretty low as far as LI is concerned.

The most desirable area of Mineola is called the Motts Section. It borders Garden City and is off of Old Country Road.

I'm pretty sure if you want to go for desirable, you'd go for the area which is in the Wheatley school district.

I'm pretty sure if you want to go for desirable, you'd go for the area which is in the Wheatley school district.
LOL I agree...I shouold have mentioned that. And some find the section off Old Country Road to be quite congested (esp this time of year!)
