What happened to my sweet baby?
DD has turned into a little monster. She screams, whines and cries all day. If she doesn't get her way she screams. If she drops something she screams or cries. She refuses to eat food that she used to love. Sometimes she screams for no reason at all. During diaper changes she screams or cries.
She just turned 15 months. Is this the beginning of the terrible 2s?
She is just getting over strep throat and I was hoping this was just her being sick but now I'm starting to think it is just her. Maybe it is teething? Her gums are swollen but she is sleeping fine and when she is teething it usually disrupts her sleep.
How do you deal with a screaming toddler all day? Any tips? It is exhausting.

Re: What happened to my sweet baby?
Oh... around that time DS was going through a screaming phase. It started when we first came home from daycare he would have a fit when we walked in the house then he didn't want to eat, etc. It was a phase. I think around that time they're coming into their own and knowing what they like and don't like. THey don't like being told what to do so much and they have a hard time communicating what they want. Also, that was when DS's molars were coming in. It was tough, but a phase that went away. There are other phases to come. Shortly after 2 he was getting up in the middle of the night for a couple of weeks. That one went away too. Who knows what the next phase will be

I hope it is a quick phase. I have a headache from all the screaming. It definitely seems like she is coming into her own. She is starting to assert herself. Does she have to do it by screaming all day though?
Thanks for the response.

Re: What happened to my sweet baby?
DD started at 12 months. The second, and I mean second, she turned 1 she became this monster. Horrible. We wondered what we did as parents to her. It is/was awful. I am seeing a slow down now at 18 months, but it's bad. Def not my sweet little baby who did everything perfect. We always say she was such a good infant that we are paying for it now and our 2nd will be a nightmare
the screaming, oh the screaming. I hate it. It goes right through you. We have been doing a "timeout" when she's screaming non-stop.
My dr. said it was the terrible 2's and it happens in the 2nd year of life not necessarily age 2
Hang in there. It's a long tough road.

I feel the same way. Like what am I doing wrong. But I guess it is just her age. She was a great infant too so I guess I'm paying for it now too.

Oh boy. Welcome to the club!!!
My DD is 17 months and an unholy terror since around 12 months.
It is horrendous, it is frustrating, it is maddening.
They say the terrible 2's start at 1. I believe it.
Just know you are not alone and it is normal!
Not that it helps much- but misery loves company I guess!
ETA- and just so you ladies dont' feel AS bad- DD was a horrilbe newborn and infant too. So I didn't get ANY reprieve from it!
