Baby Proofing?
When are you planning on baby proofing your house/apartment? Do you do it before the baby is even born or do you wait until the baby is crawling? I just added some stuff on my registry but I wasn't sure if that was premature.

We didn't really start baby proofing until DD became mobile. Nothing wrong with planning ahead though.

Didn't find it necessary until they became mobile and even then, my baby proofing is very minimal:
gates where necessary and childproof lock on the one cabinet with the cleaning supplies. That's it.
I quickly learned that once they are mobile, you can't take your eyes off them for a second anyway so those baby proofing gadgets are really just a waste. I still have unopened packages of outlet covers and cabinet safety locks unopened from my first baby.

I was planning on baby proofing after he's 6 months and crawling. We have pets and I dont even want to think about him crawling around that disgusting floor!
I added a couple of baby proofing items on our registry, too.

Im not doing it until it is necessary. Baby isnt going anywhere by himself for a bit so I have plenty of time.

Ditto. We waited, just so we could see what our babyproofing needs really would be. But like PP said, nothing wrong with planning ahead!

We baby proofed the stairs early on (also to deter people from going up & down the stairs WITH DS).
We still are baby proofing & he's 14 months.

We didn't start baby proofing until the boys were 6 months and even then it was a gradual process. I tink you kind of figure out what things you need to baby proof. For us, the kids are a nightmare in the kitchen and rather than baby proof EVERYTHING in the kitchen, we just don't let them in the kitchen. Same with the bathroom.

I'd wait-- we basically have nothing baby proofed in my house... We even took the gate off the top of the stairs because we need to re-secure it and DD is fine with it... You should see what kind of kid you will have-- some are into touching and climbing, and pulling everything down-- others aren't.
Only thing that I would say is 100% is outlet covers, but you have tons of time for that too.
