Breast feeding question

Crazy question: How long did it take before your nipples felt better? DS is one month old and my nipples are so sore. I keep thinking they will eventually get used to it, but I have had to take three days off of nursing to let them heal. I have been pumping and now I have a blister Chat Icon

Re: Breast feeding question

Hmmm, it was really only the 1st couple of days that they felt kind of dry. I used Lansinoh ointment and it seemed to help. I would also slather a thick layer on them before I went in the shower so the hot water wouldn't irritate them. Hope you feel better. Chat Icon

Mine were sore for a few weeks. What helped a lot was putting on lanolin after every nursing session and putting on a shield cup so that they can air out.

I did this. I also would let them air out for a half hour after I pumped. I would walk around topless. I still do this now. especially if I am feeling hot. I get hot and sweat very easily. Chat Icon

Re: Breast feeding question

Thank you. It just doesn't seem normal that they would hurt this much for so long...

Re: Breast feeding question

With my son it was about 6 weeks. With my daughter, she had a better latch so it was okay after about a week
