Car Damage from Storm Today..What to do?
My car is a mess. A million and one dings all over it...roof, hood, and trunk.
It looks like someone took a hammer and went crazy. ( I know it could be much worse and I'm very grateful!)
I put in a call to my insurance agent, waiting for a call back.
I feel like I would need a totally new shell for my car. Is it worth it for cosmetic only?
What do you think? What would you do? The car is a 2010.

I live in CO but this happened to me last year. They will likely set up insurance stations just for estimates if it is a widespread storm that affected a lot of people.
They estimated the total damage, I went to an approved body shop and they fixed my car. Then my insurance paid any additional charges that weren't covered by the initial estimate b/c it was one of their approved places.
I was without my car for 2 months though. It sucked. They didn't total it though it was almost $9K in damages.

That stinks - my friend had the same thing happen plus 4 huge cracks in her windshield - dont know the asnwer but hope everything works out

File a claim under your comprehensive coverage. Was the dmg from hail?? Your car can likely be repaired with 'paintless dent repair'.

Definitely call your insurance company! Trust me, I fielded several of these calls today. This is why you have insurance & I can't speak for every comapny, but this shouldn't negatively impact you.

I have an older jeep- 2005 and I have a shattered windshield and the same dings all over. I called my ins and they told me they can put in a claim for the cosmetic and glass but i opted for just glass being that the truck is older and already has a few blemishes. If you have a 2010, i would consider the cosmetic option but know your rates may go up bad depending on how far they repair. Still overall, I think cosmetic is a good option for you if the dings are as severe as you claim. Good luck with everything!

I just submitted a claim to my insurance. My car has huge dings all over it. Plus, my windshield is completely shattered. I was able to get an appt. for the glass on Wed. morning.

Same here. Dings everywhere! I'm just going to call my insurance and have it fixed. My windshield also has 3 large cracks. My car's a 2009.

If your car has dimples from the hail all over they might total out the car. It is VERY time consuming to take them all out.
DH called and since he only had dimples on the front they are payign the repairs but co-workers who had 75% or mor eof the car covered with the dimples had their cars totaled out. really depends on the insurance company.

I am so scared right now. My car got a ton of damage on the body. I am scared that Geico is going to tell me to total it.
Anyone hear any quotes back from Geico? or other insurance company for the cost of their damage?

My car is a mess too!
Cracked windshield, dents on the hood, roof, tunk and at least one door panel.
I am taking it in tomorrow for an estimate at Tip Top Auto in NHP. The news was there tonight and they said the average estimate was comig back at around 4k and because this was so widespread, the wait for repairs could be months.
I am taking the car out to Npt to get fixed to avoid that problem. A family friend has a shop there and he told me he could have it done in 1 week!

DH had his done. I know it's impossible to get a rental so we're glad we got to borrow one of the ILs. We used Van's Autobody in Lynbrook and they were wonderful!!!! I can't say too many good things. Family owned and operated too.
