I do not think I would be offended...I also, don't think it is totally appropriate to whip it out in public.... my friend was very discrete when she would do it at her house if she had company over, I do not think she ever did it in public though

I voted that I would not be offended but IMO it depends on how it's done. if it is done discreetly I'm fine with it. but there have been times when I am at a restaurant and the woman has her whole boob hanging out for all to see

I am usually not offended at all, but I have to say I was a little when I saw a woman in Manhattan nursing a 2+ year old - that's when it gets a bit uncomfortable to me

I did breastfeed in public, but no one needed to see my breast while I was doing it. I'm not a whip it out kind of gal. I agree with the others - it should been done discreetly. I remember hearing a comment that a women should have to go to the ladies room to do it. Since I never planned to dine in the bathroom, I would never feed my baby there either.

I agree. It's not something I want to see, but completely understand it has to be done. I think if you can be decreet it is ok.

if the mothers nipple is hanging out then im sorry, but yes.
if a blanket is covering her and the childs mouth, it wouldnt bother me at all..
if you are discreet its fine! if you are popping your boob out for the world to see, that makes me a little ill to be honest.

Personally - i do not see what the big deal is - even if it wasnt done so discreetly.... but there is nothing offensive about a woman's breast to me! they are all over the locker room at the gym and they dont really offend me there! Go to Europe and they are ALL over the beach!!! I think that part of it has to do with our perception of breasts in the US.....
To each his own - i probably would NOT breast feed in public myself because i am very modest - but i wish that i wasnt!

see im the opposite- nudity of another woman makes me VERY uncomfortable. even in the gym and in showers. i went to a military style college and at first we had to shower openly. i wore a bathingsuit in the shower until my crying got our dorm shower curtains. but that is just me

I am totally for breastfeeding, but they do sell these neat little coverups for feeding in public so people don't have to see your bare boob.

I agree. I BF my first, and when he got hungry, he got fed discreetly. No whipping it out for me. And certainly no feeding in a bathroom. I did once use the fitting rooms of a store to feed just because I needed a place to sit.

I agree with this....
I also feel that women can always use the breastpump at home before they leave the house and put the milk in a bottle in the event the baby gets hungry and needs to eat. They now even have something available so that you can warm up the milk in your car.

I am the same way. I went to sleep away camp when I was around 13 yrs old and they had the same open showers I took my showers late at night when most everyone else was asleep... and I didn't take one every day. boy was I stinky!!!!!!! I will never forget that! horrible experience! Needless to say, I NEVER went to sleep away camp again
