I know...I feel like not many bands sound the same over time or live, but they do

Re: Soundgarden (Sat night at Jones Beach)
Great show. The band was really 'on', loved Ben's interaction with the crowd. Chris' vocals were fantastic, and I was psyched to finally get to see Kim Thayil perform live.
And then we get to Matt Cameron.
My favorite drummer in the world.
The man is a MACHINE.
I found myself watching him more than anyone else on that stage.
My only complaints are:
- Kim's guitar wasn't loud enough on songs where Chris also plays guitar. I don't know what was up with that; it ended up sounding slightly odd at times. But hey. I saw Soundgarden so all is right in the world.
and
- Some of the people in the crowd were not into it at all. And we had amazing fan club seats, so I thought that the people in our section would be pretty amped. A few were - myself and DH included - but overall the crowd was underwhelming.
If I could swing going to see them in Philly or AC this week, I would do it.

ITA about Matt's drumming...ahhhhmazing! They had a lot of shots of him too on the screens (for us that had 'regular' seats )
Yeah it was great to see Kim Thayil too...I liked his hat He looks so grown up from that long beard he used to have
And Chris.....ahhh Chris...I told DH I fell in love again that night...with Chris A simple white tee, and he still looked gooood!
The crowd near me was ok, there were some die-hard coheed and cambria fans behind me and I also could have gone w/out the ones smoking weed and blowing it all over, but I guess that's not a surprise
The weather was perfect! It def made our 3hr drive home after the concert a bit easier!

Re: Soundgarden (Sat night at Jones Beach)
Matt is the man!
Chris did look good - and more importantly, his voice sounded amazing. I've seen him a few times solo and with Audiocrap and there were times when his voice was not good at all (and neither was he...at one show he was such a hot mess from being high or drunk, it was pathetic).
I didn't realize that C&C had such a following - two guys in front of us were diehard fans and traveled from Baltimore to see them.
The weather was fantastic. Perfect for tailgating and for the show.
As a sign of how I've aged, I was fairly psyched to snag a free Soundgarden tee for signing up for home delivery of the NY Times' weekender edition. DH and I have been meaning to sign up for it and when we saw they were offering tees (and they were real ones, the same as the ones they were selling at the merch booth), we were a little too excited.
What a night!

I know DH and I were talking about hopefully our hearing not being damaged when we drove home, like we're 80yrs old
I was a sucker and bought a $40 tee I liked...
ETA: Lmao @ Audiocrap
Yeah Chris' voice was awesome...that voice and that face

Yeah um...I still ended up buying a tee - well, DH got it for me - the one with the panoramic photo of the band playing live, with Matt as the forefront (ie., the camera was at the back of the stage).
And.
A $35 poster.
I don't buy stuff at concerts anymore because it's just so expensive, but the rationalization of "well think of all the money saved from not being able to attend Soundgarden shows for 15 years" kicked in.

Holy $hit, you're right!
From Fox News:
The bass player for a rock band has been arrested and charged with robbing a Massachusetts pharmacy of prescription painkillers just hours before a show. Attleboro police say Michael Todd, bassist for Coheed and Cambria, entered the Walgreen's pharmacy after 1 p.m. on Sunday and showed the pharmacist a note on his phone saying he had a bomb. Police say the 30-year-old Todd, of Anaheim, Calif., then made off with six bottles of Oxycontin and fled in a cab headed to the Comcast Center in Mansfield, where his band was to open for Soundgarden that night. He was arrested at the concert hall before the show, and the band played without him. He's scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Attleboro District Court. The band's website says the tour will continue.

This stuff is really making more anxious and upset...as DH is a pharmacist...he only works at retail ones on the weekend (hospital during the week), but still...
What a punk, I hope he gets whatever max he can get

I like that the rest of the band decided to play without him. Good. Why should they not get to perform because of his crime?
As for your DH, that is scary. I (kinda) get what you mean about anxiety - my dad was a cop, NYPD, so 'what ifs' were always on my mind. But the more rational part of my brain would remind me that statistically, the chances of something happening to him were VERY slim. Same with your DH. Bad things can happen anytime, anywhere...but it's important not to allow yourself to be too controlled by those feelings. Sometimes that's a lot easier said than done.
