is citronella safe for us?
dh went and bought those citronella mosquito repellant candles. are they ok for pregnant woman? i keep hearing about how DEET is bad and not sure if this is in the same category

It's as safe for us as it is for the mosquitoes. As in, it does nothing.
If you're outside in the open air, I can't imagine that the scent of the candle would do anything. It's not a harsh chemical fume or anything. But FYI, last time I used a citronella candle outside during a barbecue, I had mosquitoes actually land on it and walk around the edge - it was pretty funny. They did NOTHING to repel the little buggers.
The only thing that is scientifically proven to work is bug spray with DEET as an active ingredient, and from what I see online you can use it with very little entering your bloodstream. I'd rather just wear long pants and take my chances though.
