My Dh works for an agency and gets 35.00 a hour..... I am sure if he worked privately he can get more $$, but this way the kids are screened.

Re: People who tutor!
i started out a few years ago and only charged $45 just to get clients. I have been tutoring the same 5 kids for a few years now and never upped my rates. if I do get new ones, I will charge $50- no more in my school since most of them wont pay it and I get my jobs through word of mouth.
I am an el ed teacher with a Masters plus...

Re: People who tutor!
I charge $75 an hour for tutoring. When I told other teachers at school, they told me I should ask for more money....at least $100. So I think next year, I'll be increasing my rates a bit

The hardest part with doing it on your own is getting clients though, no?

Re: People who tutor!
If you work in a school with concerned parents it really is not hard at all to get clients... they all want their children to do well and be on grade level if not above grade level in September!

Re: People who tutor!
It's just difficult because in some districts, you can't tutor children from your school.
ETA: I meant it is sometimes difficult to find jobs.

I didn't have any trouble finding clients....but I only had 2 last year. In my department, we recommend other teachers that we know tutor. Personally, I would only tutor students I liked...both of them were my former students and I was thrilled to be able to help them some more .
