NT Scan/amnio
I was at the Dr today for a follow up because I have been so sick with MS. Baby is great!
While I was there we discussed NT scan and if I wanted an amnio. I am 38 and he gave me the option of doing the NT scan and then deciding on an amnio or just going straight to the amnio.
Just wondering if anyone has been through this decision and any opinions or why you made the decision you did.
TIA!!!

Re: NT Scan
i have no experience with amnio but people on here have posted about it recently - maybe change your topic title to add something about it.
glad to hear baby is great but sorry you're still suffering... i haven't forgotten how awful that was.

Re: NT Scan/amnio
I had my 1st DS a month before I turned 38, I did the NT, my numbers were really good, so I skipped the amnio. DS #2, was born 17days before I turned 40- I did the NT and even though my numbers were even better than during my 1st pregnancy, I had the amnio. For some reason, I was more nervous with the 2nd pregnancy than I was with the 1st. I have to say the amnio was really easy & I got the FISH results the next day and it did put me at ease. Feel free to FM me if you have questions about the amnio. Whatever you choose, good luck!

Re: NT Scan/amnio
I had the NT Scan. DH and I felt that as long as everything was ok w/all bloodwork, tests and the NT Scan, that would be good enough for us. We would have maybe considered the amnio if there had been some sort of discrepancy in the results, but even at that, I was very unsure.
The only thing I will say is, if you do decide to have the NT Scan make your appt ASAP. I didn't, and when I called to make the appt they weren't going to be able to get me in until the following week. Luckily, the doctor decided to allow me to be seen later on in the day that I called and thank God she did because my baby measured bigger than anticipated (13W, 3D, which I believe is the last day or one of the last days they can do the test) and had I waited they would not have been able to do the test.

Re: NT Scan/amnio
I'm 37. I skipped the NT and went to the CVS. I wanted complete peace of mind. Unfortunately my CVS was an anomaly and I had the amnio anyway. But I do like the peace of mind

Re: NT Scan/amnio
Thanks everyone. I think we are skipping the NT scan and doing the amnio at 16-20 weeks. The results will most likely not change my mind about this pregnancy I just want to have a definitive answer before birth.
