NYS short term disability will pay 6 weeks - it's $815 total - for a v-birth, and 8 weeks for a c-sec.
With under 50 employees, there's no FMLA, so technically they don't have to hold your job for you at all. Nice, right?
I'm in the same boat

Like Nicole said, technically there is no required leave for a company under 50 people at all. They dont have to give you a week if they dont want too, unfortunately. NYS disability, like she said, is 6 weeks.

actually they have to by law allow you 6 weeks for natrual birth or 8 weeks for c-section and they ARE required to hold your job, not your position. 50 or more employees only applies to FMLA which would grant you additional time unpaid past the 6/8 weeks time.
you can all verify this on DOL.gov under the section for employees

Is there anything else that we can apply to after the 6-8 weeks disability? I don't understand how they expect people to live on that money.. it won't even buy you diapers!
