Nails broke and brittle, so sad about Shellac!

I was IN LOVE with Shellac. I had it a total of three times.

First time, it last 2.5 weeks and my nails were stronger than ever, longer than ever.

I gave my nails a break for a week and then did it again.

Then the third time... yea my nails are shot right now. Half of them are so short it hurts, they are peeling and paper thin.

Im so sad, I dont know how/why it happened. My place does file just a bit, maybe thats why. ugh, now they look like cr@p and I have TWO events this weekend...

Any advice?

you need to wait a few weeks in between otherwise they do not last as long.

i was doing shellac for 4 months straight and each time my actual nails would get progressivly softer, and the shellac would start peeling and cracking a little bit earlier each time

i gave my nails a 2 month break, and got the shellac again, and they lasted a long time once again

Maybe they gave u the gel instead, I have had both and the gel ruined my nails where shellac did not

I just got it for the first time and it only lasted a little over a week and it was starting to peel.

Could you be allergic to ingredients in the shellac. I thought the shellac was safe to use and doesnt wreck your nails.

i want to try it..im a little scared to.

So I just went and got a regular mani, yea it'll chip much sooner but my nails needed a break.

This is what I figured, shellac is good for special occassions or vacations. At least for me. When I did it three time in a row (and my place files) they got damaged, so thats it for me (for now).

*sigh* I really thought I found the perfect solutionChat Icon

I had it done two times in a row and just soaked it off yesterday because it was chipping. My nail girls said just what you are thinking. It's really not meant for everyday all the time use. It's more for special occassions, vacations,,,times you are worried about chipping.
