Switched from rtf to powder and now my 8 week old has bad gas never had that before is it from the powder?

the mixing of the powdered formula tends to cause babies to get alot of gas. we stuck with rtf for this reason. its also a bit thinner and my reflux baby couldnt keep the powdered stuff down. we only used it when we went out.
