Shellac vs OPI- last longer??
I did OPI a few times now and while I love it it def ruinedmy nails. However it def doesnt last 2 week.
First time 11 days Second time 6 (I went back bc I believe it was ther girl that did it, she did a horrible job) Third time-10 days.
I like it for vacations and special occasions but for normal times, I am thinking not worth it. Dont get me wrong my reg manis last 1 days before they chip so 10 days is great...but for how much it damaged my nails I am not so sure I love it.
Now does the Shellac last longer?

its the same...
just easier process of removing/taking off.
I feel like it was less damage on my nails but if they are filing, there will be damage.
I did it 3x and while i loved the concept....I hated that it did chip a few days later and now I see that my nails are weak.

Re: Shellac vs OPI- last longer??
my nails look amazing and I can't stress that enough.. I took mine off last week after having had them done on April 20th.. (and they were still in tact (see the other thread on this where i posted pics). my natural nails were long and strong.. when i went to get mine done on Sunday, the nail lady was getting ready with the foil because she thought I still had them on lol
my nails are very strong and have not weakened at all (shellac; not OPI I heard that is very damaging to your nails)..

Re: Shellac vs OPI- last longer??
Shellac is gentler on your nails for sure. But it depends on your nail, how well they file and buff the nail, and how much stress you put on your nails.
I've had Shellac last for 3 weeks perfect (except for growth) I've also had it last 1 week (done incorrectly) it started to peel off from the cuticle area.

I think it really depends who is applying it. I've had crappy and great versions of both of those. Overall I was happier with the shellac - easier to get off..

Re: Shellac vs OPI- last longer??
I've had both and I hate the Shellac. It didn't even last me 2 days before it chipped/came off.
I'm an OPI girl - lasts me about 3 weeks and I'm super rough on my nails. I never had strong nails to begin with so weakening my nails isn't an issue for me.

Re: Shellac vs OPI- last longer??
The Shellac did not last that long on me at all (7 days). I'm not sure if it was due to poor application or it just doesn't last long on me. The OPI never lasted the full 2 weeks for me either. The one thing that I did love was that there was NO damage to my nails from the Shellac!

Re: Shellac vs OPI- last longer??
I've never done OPI. I chose shellac bc it's supposed to be gentler on your nails.
It will be 3 weeks this Friday when I get a fresh manicure.
It just started to peel the tiniest bit at the bottom today.
Other than that it has looked perfect except for the growth, so I totally agree that it depends on the application process.

Re: Shellac vs OPI- last longer??
I've had the Shellac done a few times now. The first 2 times, I would say it lasted an average of 10 days. I am harsh on my nails and they are in water a lot.
I am presently on week 3 now of my last shellac manicure and it's still going great, except for the growth at the cuticle.
I can't say why some times it bubbles and peels in less than 2 weeks and other times, it last nearly 3 weeks. I find it less harsh on my nails overall and will continue to do shellac, but only for special occasions. I'm not normally a nail polish girl anyway.
