Meeting with our pediatrician tonight

Am I supposed to ask questions or do they do the talking? I would have no idea what to ask

sorry for crashing but i still stalk these boards to check on my other may mommies.....they will tell you about their practice but things i wanted to know about were:

-are there separate "sick" and "well" waiting rooms? if not, then what is the protocol for a newborn coming in if there are sick children waiting? mine has separate waiting rooms but some peds that i interviewed didn't but would bring newborns right into exam rooms when they arrived so they weren't exposed to the sick children

- what are the practice hours? is there a doctor on call after hours for questions? how are they reached...cell or beeper? all calls go straight to my peds cell phone after hours

-how often does your ped go away on vacation (if it is a single doctor practice) and who sees her patients while away?

-are there slots for sick patients? if my baby is sick, am i guaranteed to be seen?

-what are there vaccine guidelines? do they follow the am academy of pediatrics recommendations? mine splits the shots and does them every month rather than every other month

As a side note, make sure to speak with the front desk because they are the gateway to the ped. I encountered one front desk staff that was extremely rude and immediately crossed them off my list. Good luck

I met with two peds and they did all the talking. Any of the questions I had or got from this board they actually answered for me before I needed to ask. So the pp has a great list above, but the dr may already answer everything for you and make it much easier for you!
