I thought I was only 5 months

So, my co-worker asked me how many months pregnant and I replied 5 months, but then she overheard me say I am 23 weeks pregnant to another co-worker. Later she said to me, that 23 weeks is actually 6 months pregnant really???

you are IN your sixth month but have not completed six months. you could say I'm IN my sixth month" or "I'm about 5 1/2 months"

its very confusing. i always just say the number of weeks. it seems a bit easier.

I was TOTALLY confused by this in the beginning too...I now say my amount of weeks. Many people just want to know months, so this week I am 26 weeks. I say that I am 6 1/2 months or I've said 6 months and 2 weeks

Imagine you have a baby and she's 4 months old. She's IN her first year of life, but you wouldn't call her one year old. You don't get to call her that until she COMPLETES her first year. Same with this. You don't get to say you're "six months pregnant" until you complete your sixth month. Make sense?

lik ethe above poster said...you are actually IN each month of pregnancy for several weeks and you dont complete it until those few weeks are over. like right now i tell people i am IN my 8th month of pregnancy
