? re: panties post partum
I've heard of these "mesh panties" with the pad in them for after you give birth...but I dunno how I feel about that. Considering how heavily i've heard I can expect to bleed do you think it might be a good idea to get a small bag of Poise pull ups instead of bringing cotton granny panties and pads?
ETA: reason why i considered this is because I figure if I'm laying in bed I don't want the pads to shift and me stain my panties or the bed or anything

Re: ? re: panties post partum
the hospital (at least the one im at) give you the mesh panties. I made sure to stock up on some each time they brought in more so I have some for home. I'm pp day 4 and dont really need the huge pads anymore, overnighters will do it. Hope this helps

Re: ? re: panties post partum
not sure where you are delivering but Winthrop provides you with all the mesh panties and pads you need while in the hospital....i used them the first day and then used the compression underwear by motherhood maternity which held the pad in place well

Re: ? re: panties post partum
Yes, getting Poise underwear is a great idea! This is my first pregnancy but my sister and BFF both used them and said they were the best thing. I plan to get them for after I have my LO.
Good luck!

Re: ? re: panties post partum
I think that's a pretty good idea. I had a c-section so those mesh panties were a Godsend (they didn't stick to my incision) but sometimes you can get really irritated from the pad shifting around in those loose, weird undies, so that might be a better alternative.

Re: ? re: panties post partum
my hospital gave me those mesh panties and super duper long and absorbent pads _ longer and thicker than they sell at the stores -- the first day I wore two of them so they literally wrapped all around and that worked, I changed everytime I went to the bathroom, which was about every 2 hours -- I wasn't soaking thru, but you want to feel clean and they're free so why not use all you need.
I dont think you need anything other than that. Just keep asking for more, I took so many home with me, even the panties....they held everything in place. I didn't use any of my own panties while in the hospital bc I didn't want to dirty them. The mesh ones they give are perfect and disposable.

Re: ? re: panties post partum
I bought cheap Hanes granny panties from Walmart and they were perfect for not rubbing against my c-section scar. I hated the mesh panties, only wore them the first two days in the hospital.

Re: ? re: panties post partum
I thought the mesh panties were amazing! The nurses at LIJ showed me how to fold a chuck (the things they put on the bed that look like wee-wee pads) and then put two pads on it the long way. I never bled through them and it was so nice to throw the underwear out at the end of the day instead of building up a pile of dirty laundry to take home.

I hated those hospital pads. I brought a box of those Always Infinity overnight pads with wings and they were the BEST. not super bulky and they stay put. Used those and the regular infinity ones for the next couple weeks til the bleeding stopped.

With my first child, I got those no show undies from VS. They didn't ride up and were somewhat non granny panty. Also, don't use the hospital pads. They are bulky! I used the Always Infinity with wings and felt much more like "me".

Re: ? re: panties post partum
I gave birth at 3:49pm, by the time they were ready to put underwear on me (I had to wait for the epi to wear off and be stitched), they had the mesh panties all set up with 2 pads and an ice pack. I was in my room by...6ish with the mesh panties. Everytime I got up that night I "gushed" and put on new mesh panties with double the pads, the next morning after I took a shower there wasn't any more heavy bleeding so I wore my own Always Infinity Overnights (very very LONG but did the job good) and cheap Hanes Panties from Walmart (I got a 8 pack for like $5). Everyone is different, bring your own and if you don't use them, you don't use them!
