Dressing to match the theme of your party...

I'm planning DD's christening party and everything is going to be pink and white. Is it cheesy if I wear pink to "match" the theme?

For ME, yes there is a cheese factor.

As long as you're not head to toe in it, I think it would be fine.

I think it depends on the party and the extent to which you match. We are having a Chat Icon and I am hoping to find a baby shower dress with some blue in it (but blue is also my favorite color and I'd probably look for a dress with blue in it anyway unless we were having a Chat Icon )

I think I'd wear a dress that was primarily a different color but had some pink in it. I personally would feel cheesy if I wore an all pink dress to match the theme.

Not cheesey! I'd probably wear a pink top!

I'm not a very matchy person. I could see wearing something that has pink in it but not as a primary color.

This - or pink accessories or something. That way you match the theme, but not in such an obvious way.

Is your husband & the godparents also doing something pink? If so then I say go for it. I think it's kind of fun and retro in a way. Have fun!

I like the idea of wearing colors/patterns that look good with the theme of the party. I always try to do that and I think pictures look better.
For my daughters sweet 16 my DH even wore a tie that matched her gown.

Thanks everyone! Maybe I'll look for a patterned dress with some pink in it so it's not overkill!Chat Icon

Re: Dressing to match the theme of your party...

Every year DS's party has a theme.

It's usually a very casual party, so I wear cargos and a t-shirt. The T-shirt is always related to the event.

Year 1 - dinosaurs - Mamasaurus T.

Year 2 - Cars - Sally T

Year 3 - Superheroes - wonderwoman T

Year 4 - Scooby Doo. I got a T that says "WWSD"

Re: Dressing to match the theme of your party...

IMO that is totally cheesy, yes -

But I am known among my family and friends to be the most ANTI cheesy/cutsey person you could ever meet -

Re: Dressing to match the theme of your party...

I picked outfits for my DD, myself and DH to all coordinate with the theme.

Not matchy matchy, but matching.

I felt it was better for pictures.
