Nursing to sleep?
My 3 month old DD usually falls asleep during her last nursing session and then I put her to bed. Is this something I shouldn't be doing? She doesn't take a paci. I tried several brands. She was sleeping (9:30ish to 4 or 5 something) for over a month, but recently, she's been waking again at 2 am. But she barely eats. She drinks for a few minutes and passes out again. I feel like she's just pacifying herself on me. I put her sleep sheep back on and just rock her, but she fussed and tries to suck my face, so I feed her until she falls back asleep. This is probably not a good habit to get into, right? She occasionally does it with naps, too.

Re: Nursing to sleep?
I did the same thing, DD STTN at that age for the most part but if she did occasionally wake up I would just BF her back to sleep. I didn't worry at all about creating any bad habits, esp at 3 months.

Thanks. Is there a point I should stop? Or she'll just hopefully stop waking up?

It depends on HER. DD STTN early on like 7 weeks old, but when she was under 6 months old if she woke up in the middle of the night I would BF her back to sleep. After 6 months if she woke (which was rare), DH or I would go in and rock her back without a feeding, which usually worked. I knew she wasn't hungry since usually STTN fine.

Re: Nursing to sleep?
DS always falls asleep at the breast at night. I BF him with his sleepsack already on and then I just transfer him into his crib. He has been waking up A LOT at night and the only thing that soothes him back to sleep is the breast. He doesn't take a paci either... I've tried and tried and he wants no part of it! I don't think you necessarily have to stop this unless you want to. I personally love our nighttime routine... I might feel differently down the road, but I'm soaking this special time in while I can!

Re: Nursing to sleep?
I do this with DD, but I'm not sure if it's the best idea. We just got hit with all kinds of sleeping issues (night waking, refuses to nap) but I think it's at least in part due to 4-month sleep regression. Can you move your DD's last feeding a little earlier so so doesn't fall asleep eating?

Re: Nursing to sleep?
If my DD wakes up at night I will nurse her back to sleep if she wants it. I dont think its a problem at all especially at 3 months

Re: Nursing to sleep?
This was exactly my DD. She was great with sleeping until about 3 months and then started waking up. I nursed her to sleep. Honestly, I didn't do anything to change her habits. I kind of enjoyed it and when she woke up in the middle of the night I'd nurse her to sleep again. She is now, at about a year, not doing that anymore. Not sure if that helped but that was my experience.
