Pregnancy and excercise
OMG I just can't do it
I never liked exercising to begin with. I was never on sports teams. Just not my thing... I joined the gym before I got married for 3 months, got in to pretty good shape, looked sick in my gown, then put on about 8 lbs after the wedding (honeymoon in Italy and Greece followed by the holidays really did me in!). And now at 18 weeks, I'm up 10 lbs from when I found out I was pregnant. I eat pretty healthy though.
DH loves to work out and play sports and is really on my case to exercise. He tells me how he just wants me and the baby to be healthy and I feel so guilty for not exercising... But for some reason I just can't bring myself to exercise! I always seem to find some excuse, and I know that's wrong.
Any tips for me? And thanks for listening to me vent...

Re: Pregnancy and excercise
its not wrong to not exercise... but it would be a good idea to at least go for walks and things like that...

Re: Pregnancy and excercise
Maybe you are just putting too much pressure on yourself. I dont think you necessarily need to work out like you did before your BFP. Just do something KWIM. A 30 minute walk 5X a week would be amazing.

Re: Pregnancy and excercise
maybe you can find a pre-natal exercise class or yoga class that you can take once a week. it will be low key and get you doing some exercise.
i have had a harder time being motivated to go to the gym but i have a class that i really like that i try and take once a week. it gives me a nice boost and allows me to still feel active without over doing it. I also walk a lot.

Re: Pregnancy and excercise
Don't beat yourself up over it.. you don't have to hit the gym to get in some excercise.. you can walk around for 20 mins during your lunch break and it will count as well.. just couple of times a week, to keep everything moving so no worries..

Re: Pregnancy and excercise
Don't even worry about it. Sounds like you're doing well on your own.
Eat healthy and once the weather is warmer then go for walks with DH.
Do you have a treadmill at home? When I was preggo with DS I used it a few times a week. Just walked at my own pace for 30 minutes (watched a TV show so it went fast)
Now, I'm too exhausted with #2. I can't do it like I did with my first. If you're tired then it's your body telling you to rest. A little fresh air and a walk around the block a couple of times a week is good

Re: Pregnancy and excercise
Not to make more excuses, but with my job it think it makes exercising even harder for me. I work 3 12.5 hr shifts a week - so there is no exercising on the days that I work (I'm up at 5am, don't get home until 8:15ish). And I can't get out on my lunch break - 45 minutes of well deserved rest!
I usually work 2 on the 2 or 3 off and the first day off after 2 on I'm spent! So that leaves me with like 2 days a week.
One of my friends is a SAHM and her and I made a pact that once it's nicer her and I will walk every afternoon that I'm off and it's nice out at the Holtsville Ecology Site. It just feels like the nice weather is never coming.
