Termite Protection
Do you have an annual plan with a termite company and if so how much do you pay? We do with Sweeney and it's up to $340 a year! 
I'm wondering if it's necessary and/or if I should shop around.

I have a plan with suburban exterminating and pay about the same. The real money comes when they find termites. I would not want to not have it.

We pay more with Terminex. I was ready to convince my DH that we should just cancel since they never found any evidence of termite activity (we did have termites in the past). Well, we noticed that our immediate neighbors recently had the bait system put in and then when Terminex came, they found evidence of termites in one of the baits (I physically saw it too, nasty!). Anyway, so I'm glad we have it. There was an old post here that once talked about the baiting system and protection plan - it helped convince me too.
