Re: a question about baby shower ettiquette

I think it is a bit much to ask guests to do both and I would pick one or the other - personally I would pick books. Chat Icon

Re: a question about baby shower ettiquette

Funny you wrote this cause I did the book thing and MIL asked if I wanted a wishing well as well, I personally thought one was enough so just left it at the book.

Re: a question about baby shower ettiquette

i think one is enough. i am doing the book thing for my shower. i think its more beneficial for you to do the books, its different and you wont get a lot of small junk you may not need

Re: a question about baby shower ettiquette

i would just do books. my MIL included something in the invite about books and everyone brought a book (no duplicates either) and now we have quite the collection started for baby girl. I think books are an awesome idea.

Re: a question about baby shower ettiquette

I just went to a shower in NJ and she did the book thing, but I brought a wishing well gift, but it seemed that she didn't have one.

I don't know if it was a NJ thing or if it was bc she did the books.

Re: a question about baby shower ettiquette

I did just a library wishing well and loved it. We had no duplicates, everyone thought outside the box, and have a bookshelf full of amazing books! I think it's an either or sort of thing.

Re: a question about baby shower ettiquette

I don't think it's asking too much but it might get confusing to some guests. I always think of my older grandparents or aunts, they would think the book's for the wishing well or not understand. The less explaining, the better so that's the only reason I'd say one or the other
