really stressing out about finding a new OB
I am still with my RE but am 8 weeks and will graduate from him at 10 weeks so I know it is time to think about finding a new doctor (my current dr is a gyn only)
here is why i am stressing:
1. I live and work in NYC so I need a dr here....but other than looking at GHI's website I don't know how to find a dr....and that doesnt give you any info about if they are good, what they specialize in, etc. 2. I am having twins so I need a dr. that specializes in high risk/multiples 3. I want a dr. affiliated with a hospital with a really good NICU 4. We plan to move out of the city as of August 1st....don't know if I would stick with the same doctor or switch since I would be about 26 weeks.
anyone have any advice or recommendations for me?!?!

Re: really stressing out about finding a new OB
I would ask your RE for a rec. That is what I did since my regular OBGYN stopped taking my insuarance while I was going through IF treatments.
As far as moving... you will still be working in the city, right? At that point I guess you would have to decide if you LOVE your new dr or if ou'd like to switch then. It wouldnt be totally horrible because you will still work in the city etc.

Re: really stressing out about finding a new OB
a few of my family members use a dr. affiliated with Lenox Hill in Manhattan, his name is Dr. Scuderi, he's a high risk dr. and this is his website...
http://www.roshmfm.com/
The only reason I don't use him is bc Manhattan isn't convenient for me, but I hear he's great.

Re: really stressing out about finding a new OB
if you are moving out of the city at 26w i would look for a doctor thats at a hospital near where you will live. cause when you are full term with twins you DO NOT want to have to trek to the city to give birth if you dont have to. IMO its worth the inconvenience now for the convenience later. where are you moving to?

that is a good point. We are most likely moving to Westchester or somewhere in that area.

As usual, FlowerWife chimes in with excellent advice
Maybe your RE has an associate in Westchester who can recommend an OB and hospital with an excellent NICU.
So far I'm very happy with the OB recommended by my RE but she's on LI so it doesn't sound like that would be helpful.

Re: really stressing out about finding a new OB
i would def look into NYC hospitals with best NICU units ( b/c of multiples). I know that local hospital might be more convenient, but i think big picture needs to be looked at. for example, i live in NJ, but will stick with NYC hospital ( at least for the first one), even though NJ hospitals are cleaner, nicer and private rooms are free.

I agree with this also. You may not work all the way till the end anyway and have to trek all the time then.
