I think most of the problems you describe here are not because of a strip club, but because you bought a house too close to the highway. Even if it was a McDonalds you might have people parking on the residential street and not the parking lot.

When we bought our house, we made sure it was a reasonable distance from highways, stores and even schools since we did not want to deal with this type of thing.

I'd rather have an isolated house in a lesser neighborhood than live in a better neighborhood but my house backs up to a 7-11. But that's just my preference.

I agree. My brother lives right down the block from a very popular restaurant that constantly spills onto his block. He's even had people park right in front of his driveway. He CHOSE to live right near a commercial area. Sorry to disagree folks, that's a commercial area in Wantagh. The property taxes are already altered.

Re: Strip club in Wantagh/Seaford

i used to go to the one in bellmore with some friends. its really not a trashy place. they dont get very naked...its more like a show. they go in a boxing ring and oil each other up. its not the type of place perverts go...its more for a laugh about fun time.

now im a mom and it still doesnt bother me. as someone else said it doesnt scream strip club. you wouldnt even notice it if you didnt know. i just wouldnt bring my son in there.

Shut the front door! My Nanny used to go there back in the day. I'm pretty sure it was called Blue Parrot when she went so idk if it was a strip club. I have to ask my mom, but go Nanny!! LMAO!

When I first saw this thread I was like eh, a strip club, but I really didn't even know Billy Deans and Jugs and Strokers were strip clubs. It cant be that bad if I pass by these places every day and had no clue what they were.

Re: Strip club in Wantagh/Seaford

i get people being opposed to it for property value reasons, but i honestly don't think having a strip club on sunrise highway is going to affect the quality of the neighborhood any differently than a regular bar would

these places are usually discreet and try to keep under the radar so neighbors don't have any reason to picket and complain.

the mere fact of having a strip club in your town does not mean that all of a sudden murderers and rapists are going to be roaming around - the people that go to strip clubs are the same people you ride with on the train, sit next to in restaurants and even teach your children.

Re: Strip club in Wantagh/Seaford

unless something has changed i dont know why everyone is getting all bothered by this.

the zoning and the permits are not even for a strip club and the owners have said that this will not be a strip club at all.

it is by the owners of billy deans, but this is supposedly supposed to be a dinner club - with coney islandesgue type of acts.

sure, parking will be a pain, similar to ciao baby on sunrise highway in massapequa, but i don't think there will be nudity.

Interesting how a little bit of wrong information gets a story totally blown out of proportion!

If this is just a dinner club and no nude/adult acts then all this fuss is over nothing

So now my mother tells my it was The Rainbow Room or My Room, she doesn't remember. She also says it wasn't a strip club, but I REALLY think it was. She said it was a 'cheaters' bar. It was known to be a place married people could go and take off their wedding ring and hook up with others. I still think it was a strip club before that though.

My house is located 5 blocks south from a major roadway. On the corner of my block and the roadway is a strip club. To be honest, had I known that when we purchased the house, I probably would not have bought the house. However, it took me living here for 2 years before I even learned what it was and only then I found out b/c someone mentioned it in front of me, not because of any crowd or parking issues. All that time I just thought it was a locals hang out. I have had way more trouble from neighborhood teenage parties than I have had from the strip club.

The placement isnt ideal. But at the same time i feel people give a bum rap to all clubs.
When I was younger I worked in a Male club with an X boyfriend. You'd surprised how many of the dancers are quite normal and so are the people who come in. Not everyone was trashy but htis was in the south not NY so maybe its different here. havent been to one in NY.

Re: Strip club in Wantagh/Seaford

I work full time, commute 3 hours a day, and with an infant do not have enough time to walk to houses with my neighbors and help them out with flyers. I simply wanted to do my part in the community to "spread the word" for those who WOULD like to stop by on Sunday in case you live nearby and are interested.. thats all

I post about the rally last night.

I go to work.

I come home and take 5 minutes before getting my daughter and can not BELIEVE the anger and rude comments that come on this throughout the day.

I grew up in a town Suffolk County with no sidewalks, a few strip clubs, and a 711 literally in my backyard.

My husband and I waited to get married and start a family until I was done with my masters so that we could afford an area with sidewalks, where I could finally get away from the nonsense, So I'm sorry but yes I do have a problem with paying 10,000 in taxes to have a strip club in my backyard!

If so many of you think IM BEING RIDICULOUS please, let me know what town you live in so I can tell Billy Dean where there will be a spot he will not have any opposition in.

Or better yet, Stop by on Sunday and voice your opinion in person as opposed to behind a lap top, please say how silly the community is being on Channel 12 news and I will personally walk you to The Wantagh Inn and buy you a drink, because at least then I can respect that!

Did you actually buy your house who's backyard borders commercial property? If so... you do have to realize that you chose to buy a house that neighbors commercial property and these are the types of things that can happen. Businesses change ownerships.

Also a PP said it best that adult bars tend to be VERY discreet. You do realize that Mulchay's which is right in your town probably yields way more riff-raff and trouble than a quiet adults only bar would.

I feel horrible about this, years ago in Valley Stream they opened a X rated shop 1 1/2 blocks from a Elementary school. We picketed also, but they stayed put for years. Fined and whatever else, but they could not force them to close.

Yes! I remember that! I'm pretty sure my church were the ones who picketed. It's possible there were other picketers though of course lol

i didn't picket, but i remember that. it just recently got knocked down. it was 2 blocks from brooklyn ave and 4 blocks from holy name.

Perhaps you should read the additional article posted above that clearly states this is NOT a strip club, nor any form of "questionable" adult entertainment, rather just a regular dinner club.
