Amnio came back negative for Down Syndrome but...
the genetic counselor said there is a variation in the 9th chromosome and DH and I both have to go and have blood drawn to determine which one of us has this variation.
The genetic counselor who called was not the one we dealt with before the amnio so she said to call the one handling our case but she says this is a formality and there really isn't anything to worry about and MOST cases the variation is something either the mother or father has and if they are okay, then the baby is okay.
I was just starting to relax after the FISH results came back negative and was expecting the full results to just confirm all is well but this just drags the whole thing out. Anyone who says the second time around goes by so quickly hasn't had a pregnancy like this one
Has anyone gone through this? Is it common?

Im sure it is just one of those things that they HAVE to mention, but if she said that if the parents are fine the baby will be too, than I would try to focus on that!
Sometimes I wonder how much easier our parents had it being pregnant with us, before all this technology caused us to worry over every little thing.

I can totally relate to that statement!! My pregnancy with DS was a walk in the park compared to this one.

Thanks for the love, ladies. I spoke to the counselor who is working on our case and from what she said, she spoke to her director who said this is VERY common and there is a 99.9% chance that either of us has this varied 9th chromosome and then all would be well, but they STILL want our blood tomorrow. Grrr....
I know it is probably all okay but really getting weary with all of the runaround. Just wish I could embrace this pregnancy instead of waiting with baited breath for some bad news...
