When / at what temp. is it warm enough to pour cement...

Eager to get our extension started!! I don't want to call and harass them b/c I know it has to warm up, but at what temp can I hope to start??

It's a slab extension - 19x15

From past experiance, I would say they start end of March.

it also matters when the concrete plants open which most start opening the end of march

In NY, there is no temp that is too cold to pour a foundation. They are poured all year long. They just add some stuff to the mix to allow it to cure properly.

When they did my house they said as long as the temperature was over freezing otherwise it may not set properly.

This is what I thought too. I know someone who runs a concrete co. in PA and they work year-round. Obviously if there's snow or rain on the ground it's no good. But I believe they have ways of manipulating the ground and the concrete itself to get the proper mix and setting.

I think they told me they do it until the Fall then they wait for late Winter, early Spring.
