I'll KNOW when my water breaks, right?

I know that sounds silly, but I keep thinking "What if my water breaks and I don't know it?"

How is it when it breaks (if in fact it DOES break on its own)? Is it always a large gush coming out (meaning no way I would mistake it), or could it be a little at a time (just making your bottoms kinda damp and leaving you to wonder if it's fluid or sweat. lol).

I think some people might have the slow leak, arent sure type of thing but when my water broke, there was no wondering about it, it was DEFINITE. I was lying in bed and all of a sudden I felt a pop and a huge gush. I knew instantly because I had never in my life felt such a thing. I ran to the bathroom leaving puddles on the floor and it basically continued like that. I had to hold a towel between my legs going to the hospital bc it just didnt stop. so yeah long story short, I definitely knew!

if you cant stop the flow w/ your kegel muscles, it's your water breaking!

i was already in the hospital when mine broke, but mine was a trickle- i thought i was peeing in the bed.

my ob had to finish the job and break the bag and that's when i felt the gush that people describe- it was a gush of warm water.

Mine was like niagra falls let go between my legs , it was crazy how much came out of me but some women have just a slow trickle, i agree that if your kegel muscles cannot stop it, call the OB.

yeah, my childbirth class told me about that - if I can't stop it with kegels then it's the water breaking. But then I wondered - what if I'm ASLEEP when it happens and just wake up a little damp. I'll be all crazy with "am I sweating, or is this it?" kwim? But I guess if you're leaking, you'd probaby wake up from that.

i needed a bath towel, 3 overnight maxi pads, 2 of those weewee pads from the OB's office and a pair of pants to stop from dripping on the floor.

I broke my water over a span of a few days. When I went in for a routine checkup a day before my due date.. I was very low on fluid.

Long story short...

Went to the ER
Got induced
& then had an emergency c-section.

I say no..everyone says youll get that big GUSH of fluid, water all over the floor. ect, ect..I had none of that with my first...i didnt even know my water broke. It broke at 8PM, very very slow leak, thought it was regular fluid coming out, just normal stuff.....didnt get contraction started till 12AM. went to this hospital at 3AM.....They told me there was not a lot of fluid around the baby at all, and good thing I came in....

This time around I went to the hospital the other day because I had some fluid leaking and im scared I wont know when my water is breaking again. Doc told me Ill know because itll be going to the bathroom & it wont stop and itll keep gushing out.....so we shall see...but i dont believe in the whole big gush and lots and lots of fluid that everyone says will happen...everyone is different, some people have it gushing some people have a slow leak
