Dinsey - Taxi from Orlando Airport to Hotel?
Anyone take a taxi? i got a price for a car service for 53.00 for 2 adults 2 children to go to west gates resorts in kissimmee.(drop off luggage)
then another 22.00 from west gates to epcot / disney.
this sounds like a rip off. is it me?
would a taxi be cheaper?

are u staying at a Disney hotel? If yes, take the Magical Express!
If you're not staying on property, wouldnt you need a rental car anyway to get around??

we are staying at west gates resorts (time share) so it's not a disney property.
they are a mile away from the theme parks so we will just take taxi from / to hotel .. no need for rental car, we aren't going anywhere else.

The airport to hotel sounds about right. I know it's about $50 from the airport to Disney resorts plus some tolls. Some of the car service companies have online coupons. You may also save a few dollars if you book a roundtrip in advance instead of 2 one way trips between the airport & hotel.
I don't know how far West Lakes is to Epcot but cab fares do add up quickly there. Here's a taxi fare estimator website to give you some ball park prices.

It's about $50-$60 for a taxi from the airport to Disney.
I was there a week and a half ago and had a meeting with someone who took a cab between Disney properties - it was $30 to go from the Epcot area to the Magic Kingdome area!
Try the mears shuttle from Orlando airport. Mears actually is the operator the Magical Express for Disney. Mears

You are probably better off renting a car by the time you factor in the transportation to/from the airport and the taxis. Orlando rentals are cheap as long as it's not a holiday week and there are an abundance of coupon codes online. Alamo is an inexpensive one.

I agree - so is Dollar. They are both on airport as well.
If you are a Costco/BJs member, you can get discount rates through their website (I've never been carded by the rental car companies so probably anyone is eligible for them).
Or - does the timeshare place you are staying at have a shuttle? I know ours does but, it's generally not too convenient.

Unfortunately, they don't have a shuttle. I am a BJs card member!

It's still not worth it. with parking fees, rental and gas, it's cheaper to just do transportation through car service / taxi.

Re: Dinsey - Taxi from Orlando Airport to Hotel?
Before you book anything - I suggest you go try this section: http://www.mousesavers.com/transportation.html
Click on Car rentals. She breaks it down by company and will tell you how to mix and match codes (for example you can use a BJ company code and a car company coupon. So you can mix and match to get the best deals. I have gotten VERY good deals on here. My parents 2 years ago rented through national (there is a link on how to join for free) they rented from the emerald aisle and got a full size for about $100 for a week. Of course the prices vary a lot - even when you book - keep searching - often prices come down 30 days before your travel date.
Unless you want an SUV - you should be able to do better than 200. -
