Question for those who weaned DC off of Prevacid??

Jordan take 15 mg pill - half pill 2x a day. GI wants us to try and wean with night dose first. Doesn't want us to give quarter pill or anything like that - just straight cut out the night dose. He said if Jordan is good for 10 days, to try the morning dose. Is this how you weaned from Prevacid? I'm so nervous - I think it's going to be a nightmare!

My DS is almost 5 months old and we give it to him every other day now and he is fine. Eventually we will go every 2 days, 3, etc.. and eventually stop it all together.

He might not have a sever case of reflux though.

I would just try it and see what happens, worse case you go back to what was working.

Will was on zantac, and we tried lessening the dose, and it didn't help. We finally went cold turkey when he was on amoxicillan and started refusing all meds. After a week cold turkey, he was fine.

My son was 5m when the pediatrician said to start to ween him off of his Prevacid. He was on 1/2 of 15mg twice a day. We started by omitting the AM dose. We did it cold turkey. All seemed fine. A few weeks later we stopped the evening dose. All was fine until about 2 weeks ago. DS is 8m and I noticed that he was spitting up again and getting the symptoms of crying after burping, waking up screaming at night etc. Especially at night, he was making that horrible sour face and just screaming when he was on his back. I decided this week to start the Prevacid again. Only 1/2 tablet in the am. Went to the pediatrician yesterday for his 8M visit and she had no issue with me starting it back up. She said that it sometimes happens. That if the 1/2 tablet is not doing the trick to go back to twice a day. She said we can re-visit the issue at his 10M. So just becareful and watch for the signs. Not all kids are by the book and it can mask itself of come back!
