Does a 9 month old need a passport?
We just booked a vacay to the Atlantis for August!  
DS will be 9 months at that time... do I have to get him a passport?

Yes! I just did this for my 13 month old, got pics taken at walgreens (cvs does it too)---definitely go on the passport website, both parents need to be present or have a notarized document for the other parent when you go to apply.

Absolutely.
It wouldn't matter his age, if he is traveling out of the country with you, a passport is required.

For some reason I thought a birth certificate would be sufficient if under 1 yo. Thank you!

if you're traveling within the US birth certificate is fine, outside of US you def need a passport!

Hmm...I hope this is different for cruises, bc we're going next week and DS is 9mos, and I thought they said that a passport was recommended but NOT required...???
Anyone who can enlighten me?

i just looked this up - for closed-loop sailings out of the US, passports are not required. phew!
the only thing that may be an issue is if for some reason, there were an emergency and we had to fly back to the US from mexico or somewhere else...then there'd prob be an issue. but strictly speaking for the cruise, a birth certificate will do :)
