did anyone watch "one born every minute" last night??
i was a crying mess with the story of the baby who wasn't moving when it was born because of the shoulder issue. i couldnt believe it. i was wondering why the dr didnt do a c-section when they knew the baby was in distress.

i saw it and thought the same thing! they kept saying, well it could injure the baby if the shoulder gets stuck or possible cause the baby to die! umm why would you even try then!!
DH walked in right after the baby started breathing/crying and moving, and hes like aww that will be us soon!! and i said i hope not! that baby wasnt crying for the first 2 mins it was out! i wanna hear screaming right away!
i thought the mom was pretty calm i would have been hysterical about why my baby wasnt crying!!!

i know! she had already been pushing for 2 hours and the dr's knew of the risks if she continued pushing but they still made her do it anyway! i didnt understand.
i thought the mom was pretty calm too - but seeing the father cry made me cry even more.

I didn't think they would show a birth where the baby ends up dying - but OMG - I was on the edge of my seat with tears in my eyes watching the baby lying there.

I don't believe that shouder dystocia is something that can be known or predicted before labor/pushing begins. The baby's head descends and is delivered, and then the shoulders get stuck.

I was surprised they didn't do a C-Section either! I wonder if they asked the mom what she wanted to do, and she preferred trying a V-birth...they might have just cut out that conversation.
Also, even though Andy (the dad w/ ADHD) would have driven me crazy, I laughed out loud at the end when he said "Can you believe they're going to let us take this home?"

ADD Dad had me
I remember approaching hour 15 of labor, STARVING, and a med student said, "I'm hungry, I should go get a big mac" - I think my dagger eyes were so bad, he left the room.

Re: did anyone watch "one born every minute" last night??
I had flashbacks during that one. After 3 hours of pushing my OB and explained that whole shoulder distortia to us and said he was concerned this may happen to us.
So right then and there we signed the paperwork for a c-section.
I would have kicked that dad out of the room, the one who was popping pimples, begging to make phone calls, obsessing over mac n cheese. Holy cow talk about annoying!!!
And what about the one with the twins? They weren't sure who the fathers were because they did 2 different treatments, 1 white and 1 black donor.
