Do we really need a crib set?

Do we really need to have a bedding set for the babylicious' crib? I feel like the baby isn't going to use the blanket.

Can I just get those breathable bumpers and a cute sheet? Is anyone else doing this?

We're not registering for the bedding set. For us it's a waste of money. I saw cute Mickey Mouse crib sheets so I'll be registering for those (we're Disney fans). Also my mom, grandmother and best friend crocheted/knitted blankets for the baby, so when he/she is old enough we will use those.

We are considering doing a sheet and a blanket, blanket for when he/she gets a little bit older. We are probably not going with a bumper because of the whole SIDS precaution. You can get whatever you want now and always add later on if you feel you need it.

we got really adorable fitted crib sheets, and we'll put on a breathable bumper in a few months Chat Icon.

I'm confused, your not supposed to put the bumper on in the beginning?

That's what we did...breathable bumper and fitted sheets.

No, you totally can! I am just choosing not to until the baby gets more wiggly and moves around the crib more. It's easier to change the sheets and such when there's no bumper on. Consider me lazy Chat Icon.

I got a $30 set from Target. Came with bumper, crib sheet, and blanket. Perfect and cheap!

The quilt and the bumpers can be quite a waste (unless you hand the quilt thing up more as a decoration)

I like the accessories that come alongside the bedding sets as accents
(the diaper hanger, matching hamper, valances, lamps etc..) You could definately get away with sheets and breathable bumpers and foregoing the whole"set"

Re: Do we really need a crib set?

I'm on the fence. We're probably just going to get fitted sheets and a blanket because most of what comes in a bedding set we probably won't use anyway.

Re: Do we really need a crib set?

I didn't do a cribbing set. They were all kind of expensive and I didn't even feel like i needed most of the stuff it came with. I just ended up buying a cute sheet and blanket separately (the blanket I have draped over the back, since baby wont even use it for a while)

I am just doing fitted sheets. most of the stuff can't go in the crib anyway. I figure I will put more effort into toddler bedding when she can use it all.

Re: Do we really need a crib set?

I got a bumper and crib skirt.. No blanket. And I got a few cute sheets at the Pottery Barn Kids outlet and switched them up. There is no need for the blanket I don't think. We did use the bumper, still do. I know a lot of people don't.

Not really. The only thing you really need from a crib set is the fitted mattress sheet and maybe a thin blanket. I would get several mattress sheets so you always have a clean pair while the others are in the wash.

My plan is crib sheet, breathable bumper and crib skirt.
