Vent re: Snow and Work Parking

I am soooo tired of being stuck and work and unable to do errands during lunch now and then. I work for a public institution, and due to the snow, our parking lot has far fewer spaces than it did a month ago. So I can get a space in the morning, but I can't drive anywhere at lunch--there is virtually no street parking near this place, so if I lose my spot, I'm sunk.

No place is walkable at the moment, and I don't mind walking at all normally. Lots of stores around within a 10 minute walk, but sidewalks are covered with ice, and mounds of snow have not been removed at some crosswalks. Just not safe to walk.

Doing things after work with DS is hard--he's hungry, tired, and so am I, so it's not a pretty scene. Not impossible, just difficult. Seriously missing my lunch time!

Anyone else? This is seriously what I am disliking most about this snow, the inability to do what I need to do.

I agree, I'm in the same boat. I have so many errands that I just put off. Getting in and out of the car is a PIA, where I work and live (park on the street in Queens)! I have been getting so irritated because of the snow/ice hassles.

Oh yea, driving around the city must be a nightmare right now. Don't envy you!

I'm hoping for a thaw soon, at least enough to melt the ice on the sidewalks.

Same exact situation here. I'm lucky because if I absolutely need to, I can take lunch at the end of the day and run errands then, but I can only do that once every 1-2 weeks.

I don't understand why they can't just pick up the snow and take it somewhere else Chat Icon

I completely understand your frustration!
I park in a garage at work but once I get into my spot at home - I just stay home. If I lose it, I am screwed!
