Overwhelmed and depressed today

I think it's just because I had a bad night of sleep, but I feel awful this morning.

I'm so tired of forcing myself to come to work with these shittty weather conditions. I promise you that I slipped on the sidewalks in the city no less than three times this morning. Each time I envision myself falling on my stomach and I get so scared and upset. I started crying halfway through my walk here because I'm mad I even have to do it.

I hate my job and my coverage partner who is supposed to cover my job when I am out is new. And also pregnant. And she NEVER EVER comes when the weather is bad, so I feel like I have to push myself so hard to get here or nothing gets done and I come back to a mess.

Not to mention I was up forever last night with horrible heartburn, gas and hip pain. Because I can't have just one ailment.

I just feel like for once I would like to stay home and feel safe and not worry about risking my and my baby's safety by coming to a job I DON'T CARE ENOUGH ABOUT anyway.

I just feel so upset and I want to turn around and go back home and cry all day.

Sorry your having such a bad day. That really stinks that you not able to just relax instead of being out in this yucky weather.

oh I'm sorry - that's really crappy. .. I think it's hard when things compound on other things to come together to make total and utter CR*P!!

I feel like if I were you, I would accidentally flip out on my coverage partner one day! Sorry you had a rough night (and a rough morning). I don't really have any advice, just lots of hugs!

Im sorry. I can totally relate. My job could care less that I'm pregnant. I force myself to come into work too; we don't get snow days. I've driven in ice, snow, you name it. And often I work at night when it's worse.

My job also has been sending me out running errands in bad weather too. I'm sick of it. I can't keep risking two peoples lives for this dumb job.

You have to call out when it is unsafe for you to go to work, no matter what the other lady does. You cannot be taking on the burden of your whole office and putting yourself through all this!!! It is not your responsibility to make up for your office's lack of ability to hire someone appropriate to cover for you. I can't imagine that this other person is more pregnant than you are, and I KNOW this other person is not more important than you are!!!!!!!!

My brother does this same thing at his job. He always puts the company ahead of his own well being and all he ends up with is problems and further anxiety. You need to put your foot down (and I mean in your apartment, not on the icy street). Leave early. And don't go back in until you're ready.

I know it's not that simple, but you need to look out for yourself first and foremost. These are emotional and treacherous times and it gets harder before it gets easier. I know you'll figure it out.

We all have and are entitled to our crummy days.

However, I think you are serving yourself an injustice by forcing yourself to make the commute on days you just don't feel up for it. It is not your problem if your replacement doesn't have the dedication required to fulfill the task at hand, and you shouldn't feel you need to pick up the slack for her.

The hip pain is the worst. I've had it since around week 15. Only seems to be getting worse. I have noticed after walking around a bit once up it seems to subside a bit.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I'm doing a little better but the larger issue (that I keep coming to work when I feel it is unsafe for really no good reason) is still a problem that I have to come to terms with.

I was just very upset this morning so I appreciate the words and hugs.
