Architect costs
I did a search but there were very varied responses so thought I woudl ask for help! Wondering the average cost of an architect to draw up plans for a two story extension in Nassau County. We will be adding at least 1.5 baths and a new kitchen. One story will likley be just an open great room, 2nd story will be a master suite.
Our contractor (family friend) has recommended an architect that is asking for 7500 to draw up plans. This seems really high to me but then I am seeing some things that seem to be that high if it includes changes, permits etc. Any help would be soooo appreciated!!!!

Re: Architect costs
we remodeled an entire house- the actual footprint of the house pretty much stayed the same but we added an extension and changed the roof a little bit.
he charged 3,000. and that includes 3 site visits and filing the papers with the town
if you want to know who we used, send me a forum mail!
good luck!

Re: Architect costs
From our experience $7500 is very reasonable

Re: Architect costs
Our close friend is a contractor - so we were getting the family rate from the architect he uses........$4500.
$7500 seems somewhat reasonable (frightening!) depending on the detail/scope of work.
