Did anyone potty train a 19 month old?

I had no intention of starting this early but my DD#2 I think has other ideas. She knows all the words/terms etc. She tells me when she goes poopy immediately and climbs onto the table to be change.

My issue is that she asks all day long to sit on the potty. I hear I have to go potty mommy. All day long. The problem. She takes off all her clothes and grabs the small potty we have but she will only sit for about 1-2 minute at best (sometimes only 30 seconds). She is usually a good sitter - but she is so impatient with this. I have tried to give her books, toys, singing to get her to stay put. She gets up and runs around and 30 seconds later pees all over my floor.Chat Icon She has peed on the toilet several times now - but she won't let me put a diaper or pull up on her when she really wants to go and I can't have her peeing all over my house. She just takes off all her clothes, yells I have to go potty and I do it all by myself mommy.

Any suggestions? I never expected that my 19 month old would train before my 3.5 year old is fully trained.

Re: Did anyone potty train a 19 month old?

DS was like this at that age. He would tell me when he had to go and when he was done and, he would wake up dry. I bought the elmo potty but, either he just didn't get it or it was too much of a game for him but, he just loved the potty so much it was like he thought it was a toy (it talks) and he would just say he had to pee pee all day long just so he could sit on it! I was newly pg with #2 and feeling awful and, honestly, just didn't have it in me so after a few days of this I told Dh I didn't think he was ready. Months later one day he told me that he wanted to only pee pee in the potty from now on. Well, that was it, there was no training involved at all - one day he said he was going to the potty and that was it. It was sort of frustrating actually b/c I wasn't ready for him to be potty trained outside of the house and through the night but, he was ready. Remember that day at your park lol - I was trying to convince him to go in his pull ups Chat Icon

I guess my point is just b/c they can tell you everything and want to go doesn't mean they are ready BUT, that said, it doesn't mean the aren't - I would follow her lead - if she does it easily that go for it but, if its too much work I would wait until she is ready and I bet one day she will shock you!

Now, #2 in the potty- another story entirely Chat Icon
