Anyone have a newborn with diarrhea?
My 2 week old started having diarrhea yesterday a nd still has it with some major gas. No fever and is still taking his formula at every feeding. Someone told me as long as they take formula they won't get dehydrated. Also someone told me to call the doctor if he still has it tomorrow since it will be more then 24 hours. Just was wondering if anyone can share their experiences with me if you went through the same thing. Thanks.

Could me a milk protein allergy. DS had 10-12 watery diapers a day when he was first diagnosed...Take a poopy diaper to the dr and have it tested..

Re: Anyone have a newborn with diarrhea?
My 2 week old has had very loose stool since birth. She farts like a drunken man and they STINK. She still eats like normal and does not have a fever or seem sick at all. Plus she only poops once a day so I do not think she is getting dehydrated from it.
From what I was told, newborns stool is suppossed to be very loose. Are you sure she has actual diarrhea?

I def think it's diarrhea. Very watery and his poops before this were loose but more consistent. He seems fine though....I just don't want to have an issue with dehydration but i figured if he takes formula he is getting rehydrated.

How many times a day is he going? I would think dehydration would be based on his total intake verses output. If he is taking formula that is great but if he is pooping right after each feeding, then he is getting rid of a lot. (we had this issue with my DD at 3 months) so the doctor had me giving her pedialyte. She would eat and then poop immediately after each feeding. If that is the case I would call your ped just to have him checked out. Especially since there is a nasty virus going around.
