Re: Help with Airfare
Try this website:
www.kayak.com
It shows you a little calendar with the rates for other days as well. I want to say Tuesdays and Wedn are the cheapest days to travel.

Re: Help with Airfare *Added Question
I think Tuesdays are the cheapest days and I don't think they do bereavement rates anymore.

Re: Help with Airfare *Added Question
Tuesdays & Wednesdays are the cheapest to fly. I use www.bing.com/travel to compare prices.
I would call a few airlines directly to ask about if they have bereavement fares anymore.
Atlanta is a hub for both Delta and US Airways so you would probably get cheapest flights on either of them. Although I found r/t LGA to RDU for $109 the other day on American Airlines which is an amazing fare.
So sorry for your loss.

Re: Help with Airfare *Added Question
I was going to say try delta for a hub. Expedia also let's you look at a grid for different dates.
I don't know about bereavement fares, but I had to get a letter from the funeral home for delta to change my flight with no penalty and I still had to fly standby.

Re: Help with Airfare *Added Question
I had to deal with this last year. The "bereavement" fare doesn't really exist any more. Most airlines don't offer them any more and if they do it's only like 10% off of the full undiscounted fare - which is outrageous. It was way more expensive than buying tickets outright.
We did better shopping around and ended up getting two one-way tickets (on jet blue and southwest) for the cheapest deal.
I am sorry for your loss . Airfare should be the least of your worries now.
