Keratin Treatment - how much did you pay?
I really would like to treat myself and get a new cut and have the treatment done in my hair next week.
My hair length is alittle past my shoulders - just wandering how much you paid to have the keratin treatment done on your hair. Also - what is the name of the brand without the chemicals?
Did anyone have any negative side effects? loss of hair? harshness to your scalp?
TIA.
ALSO - what are some sulfate free shampoos that you can purchase at your local drugstore??

I paid $150 and I personally didn't like the keratin. My hair is pretty easy to manage but it took me a while to straighten it so that's why I did the keratin. I did the non chemical one I forgot if it has a different name or not. Anyway, i had it done in february so it's grown out by now but I think it ruined my hair. My hair has never been this frizzy or hard to manage. I also feel like I'm losing more hair now than I ever did. Most people love it so I wouldn't only go by my opinion.
I used the loreal sulfate free shampoos

Ohh NO!! Im sorry you had a bad experience!! This is my worst fear - that it would harm my hair, scalp in any way.
I did lose hair with my pregnancies and some stress - so this is not something I would want to experience again.
Has anyone else had a bad experience with Keratin?? Please be honest. To the above poster, thank you for sharing your experience!

Re: Keratin Treatment - how much did you pay?
I had the Keratin done at the cost of the treatment - I'm related to a hairdresser. I believe she typically charges $175 to do it in home though.
I have lost more hair, but I think it's because I'm applying conditioner to my hair differently. I used to wash my hair everyday, so I just lathered on the conditioner. Now that I'm trying to wash it every other day to make the Keratin last longer, I run the conditioner through just the ends with my fingers. I normally shed a ton, so I think by doing it this way I'm pulling the hair out instead of shedding it while I blowdry or what not, if that makes sense. I have a pretty dry scalp and that is gone since doing the Keratin. It's made my hair SO healthy.
I bought the Coppola Keratin shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair. Best stuff I've ever bought.

Re: Keratin Treatment - how much did you pay?
please check and see what the actual brand of the " keratin" is.... i am very leery of the ones that cost 150 ish cause i know just a bottle of what we use at our salon is sooooooooooooooooo expensive that i reallllllllllllllllllllly think most places use the cheap poop and thats why your hair is having issues.....
good luck xoxoxx

Re: Keratin Treatment - how much did you pay?
The hairdresser I went to charged $150 - she does it after hours. I had it done 5+ weeks ago. My hair is very curly, so it was not going to be straight even right away. I would say it took out maybe 80% of the curl, and made blow-drying very easy. However, it was very, very straight when I blowdried it.
After about 4 weeks I started to notice that it was wearing off just a bit. Now, when it air-dries, I would say about 30% of the curl is back. It still takes only 5 minutes to blowdry it perfectly straight, and unless it gets pretty wet, it stays that way all day.
I am pretty positive that the stylist used the Coppola straightening system, as far as I know there is no formaldehyde in it, but of course there are chemicals in any treatment you put in your hair - I never get it when someone asks for the process without chemicals

Re: Keratin Treatment - how much did you pay?
I paid $125, it was a special at the salon I went to though...not sure if the price has gone up. I really, really loved it, but I think it wore off too quickly despite my following the "rules." I only wash my hair every other day, use sulfate free shampoos, etc. It's almost two months and my hair is showing signs of some frizz coming back.
I use the Loreal Everpure shampoos/conditioners.
