A little annoyed with my doctor
I go to a practice that forces you to rotate doctors when pregnant and had the pleasure of meeting one of the male doctors yesterday afternoon, and I don't like him one bit!
First off, he noticed my tan and asked me if I have been in the sun and I said some, I actually went to the Bahamas a few weeks ago. Well, he flips out and tells me not to do anything crazy like that again. I explained to him that the other doctor said it was perfectly fine for me to go and he made a remark about her "getting liberal in her old age". Then he asks if I excersize and the problem today is everyone eats too much. I told him I go walking all the time and he rolls his eyes. He tells me I should be lifting light weights and using the elliptical or stationary bike. I ask if I am putting on too much weight (10 pounds and I am 5 months along) and he says no I am right on target but to watch my starch and my ice cream and to aim for no more than 25 pounds. ANNOYING! Why are you making me feel like I am putting on too much weight if I am not?
Finally the kicker, I ask him for the note saying I am having a normal pregnancy so I can get the 3d ultrasound done and he refuses. He says how do i know what kind of technology they use and I could harm the baby. He wouldn't give it to me, so now I can't get it done!
I am so annoyed! I pray this neurotic man does not deliver me.
Did anyone else's doctor give them a hard time about the 3d ultrasound?

Unfortunately, that's part of going to a group practice: you can't 100% pick your Dr.
Your experience sounds very strange though.
As for 3D Ultrasound... my OB does it in his office (but very short bursts... less than 1 minute total time). I do know some books do say it's controversial (more-so unknown) whether it's absolutely harmless.
Just contact your own OB about the note.

I have no info about the 3d ultrasound but just wanted to say I'm sorry you had such a bad experience .. he sounds like a bit of an a**. .
I would have been like hmm. . the problem with doctors now a days is they are all rude and don't think before they speak and offer generic, rude advice without paying actual attention to the patient and I'm happy to give that to you in a note!

I was very shocked by his 3d ultrasound reaction. Every recently pregnant woman I know has had it done so i really wasn't expecting it. I'm disappointed because I was really looking forward to doing that with DH

My brother and wife are having this problem with their Dr..the sucky part is that the office did it for me 6 months ago and now they changed their policy..Can you FM me what DR u saw or where you go..Iam wondering if its the same one??

As for the 3d ultrasound. We went to impact and didn't need the dr's note to go there. i just filled out the papers with my dr's name and number and as fas as i know they don't call or do anything. it's just to cover their arse.

Impact is the one I am scheduled with...they asked for a note saying I am having a healthy pregnancy and am under the care of a doctor...

Its part of the reason I left the big pratice I was in. I hated seeing all the different drs. i go to a pratice now where there are only 2 drs and a midwife, and I love that. The old office i was at wouldn't sign the paper for the 3d sono either. My new office had no problem with it. I've had two 3d sonos and my baby is fine.

wow how annoying! I can't believe he made you feel bad about the sun and the working out? I actually heard if you aren't used to it, it's bad to START working out when Pg...
Well you met this guy but do your best not to see him again through out the pregnancy.
As for the 3D i'm scheduled at womb pics and they didn't say anything about a note/???

madonna would do 3ds all the time for me with my check up. i needed sonos once a week for a short cervix

What Dr!!! We go to the same OBGYN!! 
*edit* they (Dr.Stritmatter- sp?) commented on my weight as well. At 16 weeks I am up 3 lbs. I was thin, not underweight when I got pregnant!!

Crashing  I went to impact and they definitely do not need anything to do it, if anything just bring a sono pic. I think its just a formality that they have to say but don't really implement. I would still go, its worth it!!
I hope you don't get that Dr. either but sometimes they surprise you in delivery room and could be great (happened to me with a Dr. I dreaded, she was actually awesome in hospital!!)
